SILCALWL-M/O

SIL (White Silkie breed)

Origin
Introduced by hatching eggs from a chicken fancier in Aichi Pref. (1994)
Characteristics
This line is a closed colony of Japanese native chicken with various mutations as black skin, polydactyl, hairy crest, silky feather and etc. White plumage is controlled by a recessive gene on c locus and the gene is dominant against an albino gene on the same locus. This line has not dwarf genes.

CAL (White Wyandot breed)

Origin
Introduced from Keio Univ. (derived from Yokohama National Univ.) (2006). It was isolated from White Wyandot breed and maintained in USA and imported to Japan around 1993. After that it was mated with Nagoya breed and albino gene were fixed.
Characteristics
The c locus was homozygote with al gene. Its auditory sense is normal and it is sensitive about anesthetic.

WL-M/O (White Leghorn breed)

Origin
Introduced from Nippon Institute for Biological Science (2006)
Characteristics
This line was separated and bred from White Leghorn, Line-M which was SPF against major avian pathogens. This line is susceptible to all subgroup viruses (A~E) of ALV.
