Inbred strains

GSPGSN/1PMP/DOYLBM-C

GSP (Fayoumi breed)

Origin
Introduced from Nippon Institute for Biological Science (2004)
Characteristics
This line is an inbred strain introduced from Okazaki National Livestock Breeding Station and originated from ♂2 and ♀1 of Fayoumi breed native to Egypt (mating system). Skin grafts within a line and between this and the GSN/1 line are acceptable. The result of survey for 40 microsatellite markers including markers recommended by FAO which located on 21 chromosomes with even distance each other and have many alleles was that 3 loci were segregated and 37 were fixed.

GSN/1 (Fayoumi breed)

Origin
Introduced from Nippon Institute for Biological Science (2004)
Characteristics
This line is an inbred strain originated from ♂3 and ♀2 of Fayoumi breed native to Egypt (mating system). Skin grafts within a line and between this and the GSP line are acceptable. The result of survey for 40 microsatellite markers was that all loci were fixed.

PMP/DO (Fayoumi breed)

Origin
Introduced from Nippon Institute for Biological Science (1997)
Characteristics
This line was bred from PNP line and maintained as a closed colony consist of ♂5-6 and ♀6-10. Oviducts of female of this line are developed in both sides but the developmental grade of the right oviduct differs by individuals. Skin graft within a line is acceptable. The result of survey for 40 microsatellite markers was that 3 loci were segregated and 37 were fixed.

YL (Fayoumi breed)

Origin
Introduced from Nippon Institute for Biological Science (2004)
Characteristics
It has dark plumage involving corneal degeneration and originated from ♂1 and ♀1 of Fayoumi breed with yellow leg. It is maintained as a closed colony consists of ♂4-5 and ♀5-8. Concentration of thyroxine in serum (T3 value) is low. The result of survey for 40 microsatellite markers was that 5 loci were segregated and 35 were fixed.

BM-C (Black Minorca breed)

Origin
Introduced from Connecticut Univ. USA (1959)
Characteristics
It is an inbred strain originated from ♂1 and ♀2 of Black Minorca breed (mating system). Skin graft within a line is acceptable. The result of survey for 40 microsatellite markers was that 4 loci were segregated and 36 were fixed. The repeat number in region of dopamine receptor (D4exon I) was fixed to short type (8/8).
