Admission Information

Foreign language (English) examination for 2014 academic year entry and later to the Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences, Nagoya University

In the Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences, Nagoya University, it became possible, from the entrance examinations for 2013 academic year entry, to submit TOEFL or TOEIC scores as a form of assessment for the foreign language (English) examination. Foreign language (English) examinations for 2014 academic year entry and later will be carried out using the following method.

1. Method of examination

  1. Entrance examination for 2014 academic year entry (held in 2013) and entrance examination for 2015 academic year entry (held in 2014)
    It is possible to select either method (A) or method (B) from the following:
    (A) Applicant takes written examination only.
    (B) Applicant takes written examination, and also submits score sheets for results of TOEFL, TOEIC, or both tests. In this case, scores from both the written examination and the TOEFL and/or TOEIC tests will be compared, and the highest score will be used for evaluation.
  2. Entrance examination for 2016 academic year entry (held in 2015) and later
    Applicant submits score sheets for results of TOEFL, TOEIC or both tests. (Written examination will not be carried out.)

Prospective applicants should bear the following points in mind when preparing for the entrance examination. Please ensure that you check all details in the guidelines for admissions.

3. Score sheets that may be submitted

Scores from either TOEFL-iBT or TOEIC Secure Program (SP) tests may be submitted. Scores from group TOEFL-ITP and TOEIC
Institutional Program (IP) tests are not accepted.
International applicants with TOEIC-PBT scores should consult the Office of Student Affairs below before submitting documents.

4. Submission of score sheets

For TOEFL, arrangements should be made for the Official Score Report to be sent directly via the TOEFL test center to the Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences, Nagoya University. For confirmation purposes, a copy of the Examinee Score Report with the same score should also be included with the application documents. Applicants must bring the original of the Records to the examination.
For TOEIC, please submit an original of the Official Score Certificate.

5. Period of validity of score sheets

Tests from 2 years before the entrance examination date to those for which results can be submitted by the application deadline are valid.

6. Score conversion

Submitted scores from TOEFL-iBT and TOEIC-SP will each be converted using the University’s own method of calculation.
Note
Dates and test centers for TOEFL and TOEIC tests are limited. Applicants are advised to check the test dates and take the tests early, bearing in mind the time necessary to send the test results to the University. Test fees are the responsibility of the applicant.
